The True North Baby Expo is the Sault’s newest event for everything pregnancy, childhood and parenting related. The event will take place at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre on May 7th from 9-4.
Event Organizer Kara Poldmaa (owner of Wild Wonder Co.) says, “I’ve had this vision in my head for a long time about creating a baby expo that is more than shopping. We are fortunate to have something special here in “The North” - community. My goal is to create a space where our community can come together to support Mother’s and caregivers wherever they are on their journey. “
The event will include shopping from all of your favourite local small businesses, and even some who are making the trip from Sudbury! From handmade jewelry, to heirloom quality wooden toys, to baby gear, to curated thrifted books and children’s clothing, there is something for everyone.
Anyone with a sweet-tooth will be in heaven at Jeannette's Custom Cakes Pop-Up Shop. Her famous cupcakes, cake jars, sweet tins and sugar cookies will be for sale.
In addition to shopping there will also be presentations throughout the day from local health professionals on various topics. Some of the topics include:
- Communication Milestones
- Gross Motor Development & Your Baby
- The Importance of Pelvic Health
- Growing Healthy Kids: Optimal Nutrition for Babies and Kids
- Perinatal Mental Health
The presenters are also coming together for a Panel of Experts Chat at 1PM. It will be a chance for attendees to ask these amazing health professionals questions and have a conversation with the panel regarding their pregnancy or parenting related issues.
Capture a special moment with Cbaum Photography who will be set up doing “Mom & Me” Mini photoshoots at a cost of $20 for 1-5 edited photos.
Kids will have a great time attending as well. There will be free kids activities throughout the day like face painting, a wildflower seed ball activity with Wild Roots Nature Collaborative and a “Take a book leave a book” table for adults by Little Wild Flower Reads.
Characters, Sonic the Hedgehog, Minnie Mouse and The Little Mermaid will be around all day for kids to take pictures with.
