Since opening their doors in 1957, IDA Drug Marts has always been a community leader in patient care. People in the Sault Ste. Marie area rely on them for accurate, fast, and friendly pharmacy services as well as telemedicine appointments and vaccines.

And now, IDA Drug Marts offers appointments in their new nurse practitioner clinic, free of charge.

“Our nurse practitioner is able to prescribe or renew medications and can also treat acute infections, order blood work, diagnostic imaging or refer patients to specialists. It is the clinic’s policy that no narcotics or controlled substances will be prescribed,” explains owner/partner Frank Perna.

Easier Access to Health Care

The new nurse practitioner clinic at IDA Drug Marts provides their patients with a convenient health care option. It not only helps individuals get faster access to the care they need, but it also supports the often-overextended healthcare teams in the wider community.

“We recognize that our healthcare professionals in the community are often stretched thin. We hope that our nurse practitioner clinic relieves some of the pressure on area clinics as well as provides our patients with convenient appointments when they need them,” says Amelia Chapman, IDA Clinical Operations Manager.

IDA Drug Mart patients can take advantage of this new clinic simply by calling (705) 759-4818 and making an appointment. The nurse practitioner is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 4pm and 8pm at the Urban Square Pharmacy. IDA is working very hard to have this clinic open daily within the next few months.

Innovative Approach to Health Care

IDA Drug Marts is known for their incredible patient care and their new nurse practitioner clinic follows in that tradition.

Nurse practitioners are unable to bill the government for their services, but the owners of IDA Drug Marts recognize the need for this type of healthcare in the community. In order to make it as accessible as possible, IDA Drug Marts is providing this clinic, free of charge to their patients, as a value-added service.
