Walk into Great North Dental’s office in Sault Ste. Marie and it has the relaxing feel of a hotel lobby. Rianne Springer, Operations Manager at Great North Dental says, “The colour scheme and comfortable furniture are the beginning of a calming dental experience. We want our patients to feel as if they’re going into someone’s home.”

Great North Dental is a bright, modern office. That welcoming feeling extends to the warm greeting patients receive at the front desk and with every team member they encounter. Rianne says, “From the very first phone call, to when they walk in the door, to every team member they meet, the patient will be put at ease.”

Putting the patient first

Great North Dental is a fully digital practice, which gives the team members viewing the charts and x-rays the best quality views. Technology allows for better treatment plans. They offer a wide range of treatment options and surgical procedures including,

  • Family dentistry
  • Preventative care
  • Dental implants
  • Gum grafting
  • Teeth whitening
  • Wisdom tooth extraction, with sedation

In fact, Great North Dental is one of the few dental practices in Northern Ontario with a sedation permit. They also offer free consultations for dental implants, gum grafting, and wisdom tooth extractions. They also have laser therapy which can be used on cold sores to reduce the time it takes to heal.

Keeping the patient informed

The treatment rooms are modern, clean, and organized spaces. Rianne says, “We have big screens in the treatment rooms to show the patient what we will be doing with their teeth and getting them involved in the treatment plan.”

They do insurance pre-determinations for the patient to ensure that procedures are covered and that there are no hidden fees or surprises. Rianne says, “We offer payment plans as well because we never want finances to limit access to quality dental care.”

Getting surgical procedures sooner

Dr. Ruchi Sheth and Dr. Mo Nassrullah are routinely joined by Dr. Malak and Dr. Hatamian who fly to Sault Ste. Marie to perform specialty procedures. This allows Great North Dental patients to get surgical procedures performed quickly.

In Sault Ste. Marie, the waitlist to see a dental surgeon or an endodontist for a root canal, or a periodontist for gum grafting is very long. Many people go to Sudbury for these procedures. Rianne says, “We try to ensure there are specialists available who can do these procedures in our office to save patients the inconvenience and extra costs of travel. We try to ensure that patients get the needed care in a timely manner.”

It's a friendly and professional environment

Everyone at Great North Dental is on a first-name basis. Rianne says, “We have very kind and caring dentists at this office who want to do everything they can to ease a patient’s fears. We put a lot of care and attention into ensuring that everything is smooth and comfortable for the patient.” There is no stiff formality in this office. The two primary dentists preferred to be called by their first names, Dr. Ruchi and Dr. Mo.

Their patients are not a number, the team truly cares about their well-being. They build long-term relationships with their patients. Rianne says, “You can be the best clinician, but if you don’t have the personality, you’re not going to be successful in today’s competitive environment. Personality is extremely important.” Great North Dental’s online reviews are evidence of how happy patients are with their care.
