This fall, you’re already committed to looking after your health and plan to get your flu shot and COVID shot. Why not help support local community theatre while you’re at it?

From now until Monday, Nov. 15, three local Pharmasave drugstores will be donating $5 for every flu shot and COVID shot to the Lucas Beaver and Tim Murphy fundraiser All Together Now!

The show is a joint effort between Beaver and Murphy, who are eager to bring musical theatre back to Sault Ste. Marie after a two-year hiatus. They’ll be co-directing this impressive musical revue, which features 60 cast members who showcase songs from more than 15 different popular musicals, including Beauty and the Beast, Come From Away, Little Shop of Horrors and My Fair Lady. You can expect to hear a host of favourite musical numbers, including Be Our Guest, Tomorrow and You Can’t Stop the Beat.

The pair have worked together on and off for over two decades. Beaver is the dancer and choreographer for this production, while Murphy is the singer and music director.

The show will run from Friday, Nov. 12 to Sunday, Nov. 14 and safety precautions will be in place. All performers and audience members must be double-vaccinated and show proof of vaccination.

Audience members must wear masks. The run time of the show is 90 minutes with no intermission.

Jordan Jack has owned the West End Pharmasave for seven years and co-owns East End Pharmasave, which just opened last December, with pharmacist Frank Longo. His friend Adel Saleeb, who owns the other Pharmasave in town, is also donating $5 for every flu shot and Covid shot.

Jack thought of the idea a few years ago, to try to give people who were hesitant to get a flu shot another reason to get vaccinated. In the past, Pharmasave ran a similar fundraising campaign for the Sault Area Hospital Foundation; they managed to raise $5,000.

He has known Tim Murphy personally for over a decade and knew that he was very involved in local community theatre. “I’ve really enjoyed the productions both Tim and Lucas have staged in the past and felt that they were exceptional for community theatre,” he says.

Jack attends most shows. “I really enjoy the art form and feel that I'd like to give the local theatre a ‘financial shot in the arm’ to help with their fundraiser to purchase new sound and lighting equipment,” he says.

All Together Now! will be presented by the West End Theatre Project in association with Tmurphy Entertainment and in cooperation with Sault Community Theatre Centre. All proceeds from the show benefit Sault Community Theatre Centre.

Tickets are on sale now at the Sault Community Theatre Centre.
