From personal struggles to healing sanctuary

The inspiring journey of Celeste Kalyani Rose and Holistic Healing Algoma

Celeste Kalyani Rose, owner of Holistic Healing Algoma, transformed her own battles with cancer, mental health, and stress, as well as her background in natural living, into a mission to assist individuals in managing stress, regulating their nervous system, and achieving relaxation of the mind and body.

"Leading up to COVID-19, I was facing my own dark night of the soul, and then cancer came almost like a wake-up call to get back to my personal truth.”

Rose goes on to explain, “Through these experiences, I deepened my understanding of the therapeutic effects of meditation, sound therapy, massage, reiki, yoga and the importance of following my heart," says Rose.

A sanctuary for all

Holistic Healing Algoma, founded by Rose, is situated within Zero Gravity Mind & Body Wellness on Great Northern Road. The center provides a diverse range of treatments aimed at fostering relaxation and wellness.

Rose explains, “It felt like the perfect fit when Diana Seaton (owner of Zero Gravity along with her husband James Seaton) and I got to talking one day while I came in for a float appointment.  She had the space, and I was looking to move the business out of my home. The transition felt seamless, and I am incredibly grateful.”

“Our services pair very well together, and we found we already shared clients who were excited for us to merge into one building.”

Rose integrates various healing modalities with her holistic approach, offering everything from aroma relaxation massage and reiki to sound therapy, reflexology, infrared sauna treatments, Chinese cupping and Massage Facials using organic cleansers and masks from the line Skin Essence Organics.

Holistic Healing Algoma isn't just a space but a sanctuary designed to offer peace, relaxation, and warmth for all people with various needs.

"I am helping with conditions like stress, anxiety, muscular tension, poor circulation, pain management and reconnecting to the heart. Although all I claim to do is help you relax, which aids in so many health benefits," explains Rose.

“Caring for the body brings self-awareness. Releasing emotions creates space in the body for new ways of being," says Rose. “I can be in my head sometimes, and bringing back to my body and energy is my own kind of medicine. I am always taking more training to learn more and have begun studying yoga therapy and taking an anatomy course to upgrade my skills.”

She is certified in Swedish massage, sound therapy, reiki, 200-hour sivananda yoga, 100-hour tantra yoga from inan itah, 200-hour kidding around kid’s yoga, and breakthrough coaching from Jayme Hernandez.

She has taken continuing education courses in Spa Facials and aromatherapy.  She is working on registration for Reflexology, so check to see if you can use your benefits in the upcoming year and soon to be certified in Cupping.

Before Holistic Healing Algoma, her education background was in permaculture design, forestry technician, organic gardening certification from Linnaea farm, northern American Montessori certification and first-year early childhood education graduate.

Blending all the experiences into a retreat centre one day is the bigger vision for Rose. Ideally, running workshops, working with other practitioners, and taking the business into a relationship with nature, the biggest healer of all.

“I have lived in several farms and eco-communities and have a background in organic farming, permaculture and childcare. I see how this lifestyle is very conducive to happy living for myself, and I want to share this with others who are interested or maybe retire at the Ashram in Val Morin one day,” she says.

Signature offerings and unique services

The aroma relax massage, one of the center's signature treatments, blends Swedish strokes and aromatherapy to deliver a truly transformative experience. Each massage is performed on a unique warming mat that doubles as an infrared sauna blanket.

Notably, the center also introduces a 'crystal bowl sound bath,' a session that uses the vibrations from crystal bowls to harmonize the body, mind, and spirit.  “You let the mind follow the sounds to train the mind to concentrate.  Training the mind to focus and concentrate is the precursor to meditation and helps you develop being in the awareness state. Many people find themselves in a state of awareness on the edge of falling asleep during the session.  I use Tibetan Bowls, crystal bowls and a rain stick and play them over the body.

Alongside these individual treatments, Rose offers packages like “The Works for One,” a comprehensive relaxation experience.  This session was inspired by something I used to do for myself.  I would give myself a reiki treatment, self-massage, get in my sauna and listen to music or sing and pray at the same time.  These traditional healing methods used by many cultures worldwide work and are generally non-invasive and safe.”

These sessions not only make you feel good but also enable you to deepen the outcome with your conscious awareness.  They can give you a little time to let emotions out, observe your mind, release stress, and make space for what you want for yourself. I just hold the space.”

Sessions range from 30 minutes to two hours, and if you choose 90 minutes or more, you can mix two different modalities into one session.  Visit them online to book your appointment using the booking calendar, or call Rose directly at 705-989-4207.

Upcoming yoga classes and workshops

In October, Rose will launch three different yoga series at 4 All Yoga, Fitness & Wellness located in Marconi Hall, including children's yoga, adult beginner's yoga, and an ecstatic dance and sound bath class. All classes are offered on Saturdays and run as a seven-week series beginning Oct. 7, 2023.

Sign-ups are open now and will run with participation allowing.  Registration closes Sept. 30, 2023.

“These classes are another way to share what is in my heart and the lessons from my teachers as I continue to build skills as a facilitator. The kid’s class is aimed at ages six to 12, the beginner’s class is modelled from sivananda-style yoga, and the ecstatic dance classes focus on a different chakra each week.  It’s a great way to keep active and in alignment.

For more information about the classes, visit Holistic Healing online and call 705-989-4207 to enrol.
