If you are looking for a career that keeps your creative mind moving, Sault College’s accelerated Graphic Design in Digital Media program may be exactly the path you are looking for. This program offers students the opportunity to earn an advanced diploma in two years instead of three so individuals can start their careers as soon as possible.

“Our program offers a unique opportunity for students to gain a strong foundation in graphic design, apply their knowledge in the real-world, make great connections with individuals already working in the business, and do it all in just two years,” Frank Salituri, Coordinator and Professor of Graphic Design says.

Graphic Designers Needed Across Canada

A career in graphic design has a wide variety of applications. Graduates go on to work in a range of careers, including graphic illustrators and designers, layout artists, typographic designers, art directors, website designers, and even on television production teams. Visual communication is essential in almost every industry and graphic designers are the ones who make it happen.

As more businesses move towards being digitally focused, the demand for graphic designers who specialize in digital media continues to increase. There is currently a need for trained graphic designers across the country. In fact, it is predicted that a labour shortage in this industry will last until at least 2028.

“We see the demand increasing for professional graphic designers each year. Our students specifically are sought after because of the combination of technical and real-world training they receive in our program,” Frank says.

Learn the Fundamentals and How to Apply Them

In Sault College’s 2-year accelerated Graphic Design in Digital Media program, students gain a strong foundation in design, communication, digital production, motion graphics, and typography. Students participate in a year-long capstone project where they develop and present a final design project that highlights the participant's own field of design specialty.

Frank explains, “The capstone project allows students to gain experience by applying their knowledge and creativity into one project. It is intended that the results of this course will provide the students with an exceptionally high-quality portfolio piece to help launch their careers in design.”

In addition, students benefit from small studio classes equipped with the latest technology and highly qualified instructors.
