Three Sault Ontario Lake State students chosen as honour ushers

SAULT STE. MARIE, MICH. – Kye Heimonen, Carmen Scarfone, and Meili Betty, all from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., were chosen to serve as honour ushers for the 2019 commencement exercises at Lake Superior State University on April 27. Scarfone is a junior majoring in Kinesiology; Betty and Heimonen, both juniors, are biochemistry/pre-professional majors. 

LSSU honour ushers are selected solely on the basis of academic merit. They are juniors or seniors with minimum grade point averages of 3.5 out of 4.0.

As honour ushers, Heimonen, Scarfone, and Betty assisted with the graduation ceremony by acting as a greeter, usher, or guide to VIPs. They received special mention in the LSSU commencement program.
