Sault, Mich. resident dead after I-75 rollover (update: names released)

10:33 a.m. update:

Chippewa County Sheriff's Office has released the following update to this morning's fatal I-75 crash:

The driver of the vehicle was a Kole Stephen Rabb, 22-year-old male from Kalamazoo. Mr. Rabb was transported to War Memorial Hospital by Sault Fire. Rabb remains at WMH with what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.

The passenger in the vehicle was Stacey Lynn Hough, 27-year-old female from Sault Ste Marie, Mich. Ms. Hough did not survive the crash.

Mr. Rabb and Ms. Hough were boyfriend and girlfriend and were returning from an Easter visit.

The accident occurred on northbound I-75 close to 6 mile rd, Soo Twp.

Accident Investigators from the Chippewa Co Sheriff's Office were called out to process the scene. The investigation is still open at this time.

8:58 a.m. original story:

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office says a young Sault, Mich. resident is dead after an early-morning crash on I-75.

Police were called to the crash scene, near 6 Mile Road, around 2:20 a.m. where a vehicle driven by a young Kalamazoo man hit the median and rolled over multiple times. The female passenger did not survive the crash, say police.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, say police. 

No names have been released.

The I-75 was closed for several hours while investigators were on scene. Sault Ste. Marie Police Department and Border Patrol officers also were on scene. The road reopened shortly after 6 a.m.
