Oktoberfest hits the streets of Sault Michigan this weekend

SAULT STE. MARIE, MICH. - On Saturday, Sept. 29, Downtown Sault Ste. Marie (Michigan) will host their annual Oktoberfest event beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing well into the night. Event highlights include live music on the Cooper Dental Sound Stage from Judy and Her Suchey Brothers playing polka favourites, vendors, dance performances, outdoor food options, activities for children, and the return of the Alpha Bar Beer Garden and Gym 906 Beer Olympics.

In conjunction with the War Memorial Hospital Sault International Festival of Races and Oktoberfest, 1668 Winery and Lockside Brewery will also host their annual Kegs and Eggs Breakfast featuring sausage, eggs, potatoes and a beer for just $6 beginning at 8 a.m.

Oktoberfest will take place on Portage Avenue between Ashmun Street and and Osborn Boulevard. Road closure begins at 8 a.m. and will reopen at 8 p.m. Parking is available on Water Street and in rear lots along Moloney’s Alley.

Area restaurants and pubs including The Alpha Bar, The Palace Restaurant and Saloon, and The Ramada Ojibway Plaza will be serving up specialty food and beverages throughout the day outside on Portage Avenue. Beginning at 3 p.m., The Alpha Bar will transform their Portage Avenue facing parking lot into a Beer Garden for the return of the Gym 906 Beer Olympics kicking off at 5 p.m. The public is welcome to spectate or participate in this Olympic-style competition featuring relay activities, adult beer pong, tire flipping, the ever-popular stein hoisting competition and more! Interested participants may sign their teams of four up at The Alpha Bar or Gym 906.
