Firefighters called to SooTheatre Project in Sault Michigan

Firefighters in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. responded to a fire call this afternoon at the Soo Theatre Project, located at 534 Ashmun St.

A statement issued just before 2 p.m. today by the theatre indicates the fire was quickly contained.  

“Thank you for all of the concern and prayers. We will be closed today and tomorrow for regular lessons and classes,” the statement reads. “Everyone is okay and we will have more information soon. It was an isolated event in the auditorium that was quickly contained. Thanks to Soo Fire Department and Police for your quick response!”

The extent of the damage to the theatre is unknown at this time.
