"WE'RE FIGHTING MAD AND WERE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!"
Sault Ste Marie, Ont.,

Over thirty-five camp and cottage owners from the Quinte Lakes area at Batchawana met with members of Sault Ste Marie OPP last night to discuss and plan of action to fight crime and vandalism in their area.

Quinte Lakes is a community of five lakes in a secluded area just south of Batchawana off Mile 38 Road. Over the past while there has been extensive vandalism to their vehicles and boats as well as thefts and break and enters to their camps.

The 35 camp owners met last night with the Detachment Commander of Sault Ste Marie OPP office and other members of the detachment to discuss the crimes in their area as well as to plan several pro-active crime prevention techniques.

The Camp Association members decided to start with the installation of a closed circuit camera at the landing area where the majority of their vehicles are parked. Several members of the Quinte Lake area have satellite and radio phones.
