Barricade Ends- Man Taken To Hospital (Iron Bridge, Ontario) - On Nov. 2, 2004 at approximately 2:30 p.m., the East Algoma OPP responded to a call that an armed man had barricaded himself in a residence on Highway 546, north of Iron Bridge, Ontario.

(Iron Bridge, Ontario) - On Nov. 2, 2004 at approximately 2:30 p.m., the East Algoma OPP responded to a call that an armed man had barricaded himself in a residence on Highway 546, north of Iron Bridge, Ontario.

The East Algoma OPP, along with members of the North East Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), London Tactical Response Team, (TRU), North East Region Crime Unit, Crisis Negotiator Team and North East Region Command Staff attended the scene.

Residents in the immediate vicinity along Highway 546 and Warnock Road were evacuated from their homes for safety reasons.

At approximately 3:15 a.m. on Nov. 3, 2004, officers entered the home and found a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

He was transported by ambulance to the Blind River Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Residents of the area have returned to their homes.

Because the area was secured by the police at the time of the man’s injuries, the province’s Special Investigations Unit has been notified and will be investigating.


ATV stolen

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) - On November 2, 2004 the East Algoma OPP were advised of a theft that occurred on November 1, 2004 while the complainant was hunting.

The theft occurred on Bolen River Road in Piche Township (approximately 30 kilometers north of Elliot Lake, Ontario).

Stolen was a 2001 Green Honda 350 All Terrain Vehicle (ATV)
