(Elliot Lake, Ont.) Police are currently investigating a break and enter and theft at the Lester B. Pearson Centre.

Investigation revealed that sometime during the evening of October 17th, 2005 unknown person(s) entered the building while a group was utilizing the auditorium. The culprit(s) attended the front desk area and pried open cupboards and removed a safe with an undisclosed amount of property.

With the assistance of a citizen, police have recovered the missing safe. Missing from the safe are 20 snowmobile passes for 2006. The stolen stickers have the following serial numbers:

S79861 up to and including S79880

Anyone who has purchased a pass bearing one of the above serial numbers or was approached to purchase a stolen pass is asked to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-705-942-7867 or 1-800-461-8326.

IGNORING BAIL CONDITIONS SENDS SAULT MAN TO COURT

Sault Ste Marie, Ont., Sault Ste Marie OPP arrested a Sault man at after looking for him since last Thursday.

On Thursday 10 Nov 2005 Sault OPP were called to a Heyden home after a woman reported her estranged husband was at her home causing a disturbance. The man was under conditions of release documents from the courts not to communicate with her. The man fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Officers obtained a warrant for his arrest of the man. Yesterday morning at about 11:30 a.m. officers with the Sault OPP Detachment attended Sault College and found the man’s car parked in front of the college. Officers then saw man talking to the same woman outside the college. He was arrested on the warrant and an additional charge of violating his release conditions will be laid against him.

The 55 year old Sault man will appear in bail court this morning.
