HORSE DRAWN VEHICLE SIGNS STOLEN

(Desbarats, Ontario) On Wednesday May 26, 2004 the East Algoma – Thessalon OPP were advised that four of the newly erected caution signs for the horse drawn vehicles have been stolen within the boundaries of Johnson Township.

The signs along with some posts have gone missing over the last two weeks. These signs have been posted in strategic locations throughout the area to caution motorists to slow down and to keep an eye out for the Mennonites who have recently moved to the area.

The four signs that have been taken had been posted in the following locations:

1. The north end of Johnson Township on Gordon Lake Road
2. The west end of Johnson Township on Government Road near Puddingstone Road
3. The east end of Johnson Township on Boundary Road near Highway 17, and
4. On Carter Side Road



The cost of replacing the four signs and posts is $255.00 plus labour to have them installed again.

THEFT OF GAS

(Thessalon, Ontario) On Saturday May 22, 2004 the East Algoma – Thessalon OPP were advised of a theft of gas from a residence located on Culver Road, north of Thessalon, Ontario.

Approximately 100 gallons of gasoline and 80 gallons of diesel were stolen from gas tanks located in a garage. The lock to the garage was broken and entry was gained.
