The Batchawana First Nation Police were called to separate incidents that resulted in two youths spending the night in jail.’

At about 8:00 p.m. last night police were called to Gran Street on the Batchawana First Nation after reports of a youth apparently under the influence walking down the street. Police spotted the youth having some difficulty walking and confirmed that he was in fact under the influence of intoxicants.

In a second call a about an hour later the Batchawana First Nation police responded to a call from a parent concerned about another youth that was under the influence of alcohol. Police arrived in that area and located the youth in a bush area. He too was taken into custody.

Both youths were released this morning after spending the night in police custody.
