TWO VEHICLE COLLISION SENDS ONE TO HOSPITAL

(Thessalon, Ontario) On Wednesday March 8, 2006 shortly after 10:00 am the East Algoma – Thessalon OPP were advised of a two vehicle collision on Highway 17 approximately 5 kilometers west of Thessalon, Ontario.

A westbound van lost control in the slush, striking an eastbound van. The westbound van then struck a sign and ended up in the south ditch. The eastbound van came to rest on the eastbound shoulder.

The driver of the westbound van, Melissa HARDY (32) of Bruce Mines, Ontario was transported to the Thessalon Hospital by ambulance. HARDY was treated for minor injuries and released.

The driver of the eastbound van, Kirk RALPH (41) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and his three passengers received minor injuries. They were treated at the scene.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged and were towed from the scene.

Name Clarification On Marijuana Grow Operation

(Desbarats, Ontario) Jason Stanley SMITH (28) of Boyer Drive, Desbarats, Ontario attended in bail court on Monday March 6, 2006. SMITH was released to attend in court in Thessalon, Ontario on March 23, 2006.

Jason Edmond SMITH (30) ALSO of Desbarats, Ontario, owner of Custom Ideas located at 677 MacDonald Drive, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario IS IN NO WAY associated to this marihuana grow operation.
