Man Charged In Death

(Garden River First Nation Territory, Ontario) – The Ontario Provincial Police, in conjunction with the Garden River Detachment of the Anishinabek Police Service, has charged a 19-year-old man with first degree murder in connection with the death of a Sault Ste. Marie man last week.

The body of James Lee Trevette (known locally as James Parr) 20, was found in a building at an abandoned lumberyard on Hwy 17 in Garden River near the west border of the Territory on May 31, 2005. The deceased had been reported as missing to the Sault Ste Marie City Police earlier that day.

As a result of the investigation, charged with first degree murder is Nimkee Stevens, 19, of Batchewana First Nations, Rankin, Ontario. The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario today (Wednesday, June 8, 2005).

The investigation is being conducted by members of the Sault Ste. Marie OPP, under the direction of Detective Inspector Bernie Murphy of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Anishinabek Police Service requested the OPP’s assistance in this investigation. Also assisting are members of the Batchawana First Nation Police and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Suspected Drug Dealer Rolls Over Near Blind River

(Municipality of Huron Shores, Ont.) On Tuesday 07 June 2005 just before 11:00 a.m. East Algoma O.P.P. were called to a single vehicle collision on Hwy 17 West of Blind River.

Before officers arrived on the scene witnesses observed a lone male in the bush near the scene of the collision. The officer investigated and located 10 - ½ pound bags of what appeared to be marihuana, a one-litre bottle of suspected GHB (date rape drug) and seven pills suspected to be Ecstasy.

The vehicle, driven by a 21-year-old Thunder Bay resident was west bound on Hwy 17 when the driver appeared to lose control of the car and drove into the North ditch causing the vehicle to roll over. The driver sustained only minor cuts and scrapes and no medical treatment was required.

Charged with: Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking of a scheduled drug X 2, Possession of a Scheduled drug

Is 21-year-old Jeremy TETREAULT 0f 131 Rupert St. in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Tetreault was held in custody and is to appear today (Wednesday) in Sault Ste. Marie bail court.

Value of the drugs is thought to be approximately $44,360.

Cyclist Identified

Goulais River, Ont., The cyclist who lost his life in the fatal collision on Hwy 17 in Goulais River has been identified. The deceased, Mark Thomas Vosper , 43 years of age of 239 Eastern Ave. Sault Ste. Marie was killed instantly when the bicycle he was travelling on swerved into the path of a southbound tractor trailer on June 6th,2005 (yesterday).

Police have completed their investigation and have concluded that no charges will be laid.
