NO INJURIES IN SCHOOL BUS COLLISION

Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. was called to a collision involving a school bus and a mini van yesterday morning. At about 8:15, a school bus collided with a mini van at the intersection of Lakeview Road and Pumpkin Point Road in Laird Township.

The investigation has determined that the driver of the school bus entered the intersection and collided with a mini van. There was one student on the bus at the time and he was not hurt. The driver of the bus, 31-year-old Cheryl Vanderheden, has been charged with failing to yield for a yield sign.


STOLEN CAR RECOVERED
Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.,

Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. recovered a car that was reported stolen from Sudbury yesterday.

At about 4:00 p.m. yesterday, a patrol officer from the Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. was notified of a stolen vehicle near the Desbrats area. The officer saw the car headed west near the east town limits.

The car pulled into a fast food restaurant in the east end of the town and as the driver got out of the vehicle he was arrested for possession of stolen property. 19-year-old Chad David RUSSELL of the Kitchener area will appear in bail court this afternoon. The vehicle was a newer model Hyundai Tiburon.


IMPAIRED DRIVER INVOLVED IN COLLISION
Heyden, Ont.,

A vehicle that went into the ditch in a residential area yesterday afternoon was being operated by an impaired driver.

At about 7:00 p.m., the driver of a car went into the ditch on Marina Drive in Heyden. Police were called to the scene and quickly determined that the driver was drunk. 45-year-old Gerard Jalbert of Goulais River has been charged with Impaired Driving. His driver's licence has been suspended for ninety days and he will appear in court in late July to answer to the charge.


ANOTHER IMPAIRED DRIVER
Goulais River, Ont.,

O.P.P. in Sault Ste. Marie arrested a second impaired last night.

While enroute to a trespassing complaint in Goulais River, the officers spotted the offending vehicle on Hwy 17 in Heyden. The officers pulled the vehicle over and found that the driver appeared to be impaired.

54-year-old Elizabeth Nelson of Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with Impaired Driving. She also has had her drivers licence suspended for ninety days and will appear in court in July to answer to the charges.
