Yesterday at 6:00 p.m., the Sault O.P.P. responded to a single-vehicle accident on Highway 17 in Havilland Township. A 1995 Chevrolet Blazer lost control, rolled over, and flipped into the ditch. The Blazer then caught on fire.
Several heroic motorists stopped and rescued the lone occupant, Mary Calleri, age 75, by dragging her to safety. Mrs. Calleri received non-life threatening injuries because she had been wearing her seat belt.
The accident is still under investigation. Police are requesting that any witnesses to the accident call 1-888-310-1122.
