INCREASED TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT AT GARDEN RIVER CONTINUES

Sault Ste Marie OPP are continuing their increased traffic enforcement along Hwy 17 on the Garden River First Nation Territory.

Sault Ste Marie OPP along with Anishinabek First Nation Police have been showing zero tolerance along that stretch of highway since late December 2001. Resident's and school bus drivers that regularly use the highway have notice improvements in compliance with the school bus laws since both police services started to increase the traffic enforcement along that stretch of highway.

Both OPP and Anishinabek Police Services are still finding a high proportion of motorists that are travelling far over the posted speed limits through the First Nation territory.

Sault Ste Marie OPP has been responding to the community's needs by continuing to use marked and unmarked police cruisers in our increased traffic enforcement details in this area.
