AND AGAIN…RADAR PATROLS FINDS MORE THAN SPEEDERS

One Bruce Mines man is in police custody after officers found a substantial amount of drugs and cash in a car last night.

Last night just before midnight, an officer with the Sault Ste Marie OPP was running radar on Hwy 17 in Laird Twp just east of Echo Bay. The officer pulled over an eastbound vehicle that was traveling over the speed limit.

The officer detected indicators that there may be drugs in the vehicle. The lone male occupant of the car was arrested. A search of the man and the car found three different drugs and a large quantity of cash.

The officer found about 163 grams of marihuana, 270 grams of hash oil and 17 grams of cocaine. The estimated street value of the drugs is just over $10,000.00. Police also seize close to $7,700.00 in cash from the accused. The man is in police custody and he will appear in bail court later this morning.

The identity of the man and the specific charges will be released when the necessary documents are filed with the court later this morning.

FIVE DRUGS CHARGES LAID AGAINST BRUCE MINES MAN

Sault Ste Marie OPP are now able to release the identity of the Bruce Mines man who was arrested last night with a substantial amount of drugs and money.

Thirty seven year old Allan STOBIE of 41 Cunningham Street in Bruce Mines Ontario, faces five drug charges.

Mr. Stobie is charged with three counts of Possession of Drugs for the Purpose of Trafficking and two counts of Possession of Drugs contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act. He is appearing in bail court this morning.



TOY DRIVE DECEMBER 15, 2006

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP in conjunction with the Bank of Montreal, MOOSE F.M. Radio and local businesses will be hosting a toy drive on December 15th, 2006.

During the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. an OPP cruiser will be parked in front of MOOSE F.M. Radio station and members of the public are invited to donate toys or teddy bears. Donations will be placed in the cruiser and the goal is to fill up the cruiser.

Donated toys can also be dropped off at the local branch of the Bank of Montreal.

The donated toys will be provided to the local Salvation Army for gifting to families in need this festive season.
