A forty five year old Goulais River man appears in court today after a lengthy investigation by Sault Ste Marie OPP.Earlier in November OPP began an investigation into bad cheques issued in the Goulais River and Havilland Shores Drive area.
A forty five year old Goulais River man appears in court today after a lengthy investigation by Sault Ste Marie OPP.Earlier in November OPP began an investigation into bad cheques issued in the Goulais River and Havilland Shores Drive area.The investigation has determined that the accused stole cheques from a man with the same first name and altered the cheques. He passed the cheques at stores in and around Goulais river.Investigation indicated that in early November the accused was stopped and charged by police for a traffic offence. At that time he gave officers the wrong name.

On Sunday 28 November officers with the Sault Ste Marie Detachment located the accused on Hwy 17 in Goulais River. Once again he gave officers a wrong name. He was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Forty five year old Gilles Robillard of Havilland Shores Drive now faces the following charges. Utter forged Documents X2, Possession of Stolen Property under $5000.00, Obstruct Police X2, Personation X2, Assault, Utter Threats and Criminal Harassment. He has been held over in bail court and he will make another court appearance today in Sault Ste Marie Courts



Heyden, Ont. - Sault Ste. Marie OPP were called to Highway 17 at the bottom of the Mile Hill in Heyden yesterday after pop cans and other debris were thrown out of a school bus window.

Just after 4 p.m. yesterday a motorist was following the bus on Highway 17 down the Mile Hill, north of Sault Ste Marie.

One of the pop cans struck the following vehicle on the windshield.

Luckily it did not cause any damage to the vehicle.

The bus was located in the Goulais River area but none of the teenagers in the bus would accept responsibility for their actions.

Heyden, Ont. - A Heyden resident discovered the extent some people will go to save some spending money on heating.

Sometime over the past week thieves stole about 200 gallons of heating oil from an outside storage tank.

The home is located on River Road in Heyden.

If any residents in and around the River Road area can help this homeowner, and the police, trace the missing oil please call Crime Stoppers or the Sault Ste Marie OPP.
