Gas Thief

As gasoline prices rise, the value of this necessary product becomes more attractive to those bent on thievery.

A residence on the Mission Road in Goulais River hosted at least one unwelcome guest sometime over the last two nights. The subject of the visit was a van parked in the driveway and what made it so attractive was the gasoline in the tank. The crook or crooks, as the case may be, managed to siphon off 40 litres of the precious liquid. Adept in getting what they wanted, but, somewhat inept at the methods they employed, the culprit(s) managed to damage the fuel filler on the vehicle. No doubt those responsible will attempt this sort of nefarious act again so we should all pay particular attention to strangers lurking about in our neighbourhoods.

Impaired Charges

A gentleman spent last night savouring the taste of alcoholic elixirs. A little too much consumption unfortunately put him on the wrong side of the law. Police were called when the gentleman arrived at a motel at which he was not staying.

When police arrived he was arrested for Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Alcohol. A trip to Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. Detachment for breath testing did not pan-out as planned. The gentleman did not wish to provide the requested sample of his breath. Michael MEDEIROS, 44, of Cambridge Ontario has been charged for being Impaired as well as Refusing to Provide a Breath Sample. He will appear in court in Sault Ste. Marie on the 3rd of October 2005.
