COLLISION SERIOUSLY INJURES 3-YEAR-OLD
Goulais River

A collision north of Sault Ste. Marie late yesterday afternoon left a 3-year-old boy in intensive care with serious injuries.

At about 4:45 p.m., the child was at a roadside park on Haviland Bay Shores Drive just off Highway 17 in Goulais River. A car had just turned off Highway 17 and was slowing to enter a local store located near the roadside park.

The preliminary investigation indicates the child broke free of his caregiver and dashed across Haviland Shores Drive in front of the car. He was struck and knocked unconscious.

He was transported to Sault and Area Hospital by ambulance where he was admitted with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
