Garbage, Damage, Booze and Drugs

Harmony Beach, Ont., Officers with the Sault Ste Marie OPP are investigating incidents of damaged vehicles, large amounts of garbage, along with liquor and drug charges at some of the area’s more popular smelt fishing areas.

Year round resident’s of the Harmony Beach area reported to police that three large bags of garbage were left behind at the Harmony River by smelt fishermen. One resident also reported to have their car “keyed” during the night.

Last night officers with the OPP and MNR Conservation Officers checked fishermen at Harmony Beach and other popular smelt fishing areas. Officers laid three liquor charges and two drug possession charges.
