STOLEN VEHICLE AND BREAK AND ENTER

Sault Ste Marie OPP are investigating the break and enter into a garage in Laird Twp overnight.

Yesterday morning at about 8:00 a.m. the owner of the garage discovered that thieves had forced their way into the garage and stolen numerous items. The owner advised the police that a motorcycle, bicycles, tools, power equipment and other items had been removed from the structure.

Patrols of the area side roads by both police and residents of the area located several of the missing items in the ditches along Lakeview Road and Lake George Rd. Not all of the property has been recovered as of yet.

Sault Ste Marie OPP and the Sault Ste Marie City Police are also investigating the theft of a vehicle from Echo Bay last night. Yesterday at about 9:00 a.m. the Sault Ste Marie City Police found the 2003 Ford Escape abandoned behind Wellington Square Mall in the city. When the registered owner from Echo Bay was contacted, she was still under the impression that the vehicle was still in her driveway. The vehicle had no noticeable damage.


EARLY MORNING IMPAIRED DRIVER

Goulais River, Ont.,

An early morning traffic stop found another impaired driver traveling on Hwy 17.

At about 2:30 this morning an officer with the Sault Ste Marie Detachment stopped a southbound vehicle on Hwy 17 near Havilland Shores drive. The driver of the vehicle showed signs that he had been drinking and he was given a roadside breath test. The driver failed the roadside test and he was taken to the police station for the breathalyzer test.

He did not do well on the breathalyzer test and he did register over the legal limit . Thirty two year old Jason ARTUSO, of Sault Ste Marie was charged with Impaired Driving. He was given a 90 day drivers licence suspension and has a court date in May to answer to the charge.
