Two people face weapons charges following an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) search at a residence near Thessalon, states a news release issued today.

Deloris Waboose and Samuel Bisaillon were arrested after officers seized a number of weapons, including a daisy air rifle, a spiked ball at the end of a chain and 22 calibre ammunition.

THESSALON FIRST NATION - On Feb. 15, 2022, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the North East Region Sault Ste. Marie Canine Unit executed a warrant to search at a residence in the community of Thessalon First Nation.

A search of the residence led to the seizure of property stolen from a recent break and enter: two scopes for an air rifle, a tackle box and a daisy air rifle. Also seized were brass knuckles, a back pack of assorted weapons, including a spiked ball at the end of a chain, 22 calibre ammunition and a stock for an air rifle. Two people were arrested.

Deloris Waboose, 31 years of age from Thessalon First Nation, was charged with:
    •    Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC) (two counts)
    •    Unauthorized possession of weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the CC (two counts)

Samuel Bisaillon, 32 years of age from Thessalon First Nation, was charged with:
    •    Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC (two counts)
    •    Unauthorized possession of weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the CC (two counts)

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 7, 2022.
