Two face weapons, assault charges after disturbance in Goulais

One accused is from the Sault and the other is from Goulais River

GOULAIS RIVER - On April 10, 2019 at approximately 6:30 a.m. members from the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance call at a residence in Goulais River, Ont.

Officers attended the scene and as a result of further investigation two males were charged with the following:

Brandon Dale Rowat, 27-years-old of Goulais River, Ont.

  • Assault causing bodily harm contrary to section 267(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the CC.
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order contrary to section 117.01(1) of the CC.

Stephen James Ward 32-years-old of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

  • Assault causing bodily harm contrary to section 267(b) of the CC,
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the CC.

The accused are scheduled to appear in bail court on April 10, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 426 Queen Street, Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
