Two Elliot Lake residents face numerous drug related charges

ELLIOT LAKE - On April 19, 2018 at 11:51 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a residence on McKeown Road in Elliot Lake, Ont. to execute a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant.

The OPP's Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), East Algoma Crime Unit, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), the Canine Unit, and uniform members were involved with the investigation.    

As a result of the warrant being executed, police seized numerous firearms and ammunition, a significant amount of suspected marijuana, a large amount of suspected cocaine, a quantity of suspected hashish, numerous prescription drugs, over $5,400 in cash, numerous cell phones, and drug paraphernalia. The estimated street value of the drugs was over $27,500.

 A man and women residing at the residence were arrested and charged.

Tim Derasp, 48 years of age of Elliot Lake, Ont. was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking - under 3kg, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a schedule II substance - cannabis resin - over 1 gram, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a schedule II substance - cannabis marijuana - under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Breach of firearms regulation - store firearm or restricted weapon, contrary to section 86(2) of the Criminal Code (CC).

Jacqueline Derasp, 45 years of age from Elliot Lake, Ont. was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking - under 3kg, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a schedule II substance - cannabis resin - over 1 gram, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a schedule II substance - cannabis marijuana - under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Breach of firearms regulation - store firearm or restricted weapon, contrary to section 86(2) of the Criminal Code (CC).

Both accused persons were scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River, Ont. on April 20, 2018.
