Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to assist the ambulance service yesterday after a woman broke her hip at an isolated camp north of Sault Ste Marie.

Just around the noon hour a man attended the OPP detachment to advise that his wife was at an isolated bush camp and was unable to get up. The camp is on Meenach Lake located in Davieaux Twp between Mekatina and Batchawana Station.

Officers and Ambulance personnel had to respond using the OPP’s four wheel drive vehicle, by foot and then by boat to get to the patient.

The woman was admitted to Sault and Area Hospital with a suspected broken hip.


FOUR ARRESTED AFTER STOLEN CAR LOCATED

Two men and two women will appear in bail court after they arrested in a car that was stolen from the Marathon area.

At about 11:00 a.m. yesterday officers from the Sault Ste Marie detachment checked the car near the north city limits. The officers suspected that the occupants did not have legal possession of the vehicle but the car was not entered as stolen on the nation wide police information system. Officers called the home of the registered owner only to find out he did not realize that his car had been stolen .

The four occupants were also found to be responsible for the theft of a shotgun from a car in the White River area. All four are being held in custody and will appear in bail court this afternoon.

They have been identifies as twenty-six year old James Jenkins of Cobourg, Ont., twenty year old Clayton Young of New Brunswick, ninteen year old Naomi Anderson of Calgary, Alberta and a sixteen year old female from Constance Lake, Ont.
