A collision yesterday morning between a transport and a car has resulted in charges against the driver of the car.

At about 8:00 a.m. yesterday a transport was northbound on Hwy 17 between Mile Hill and Pineshores Drive. Another vehicle was traveling southbound toward Sault Ste Marie. The driver of the transport indicated that he saw the car crossing the centerline and drove onto the shoulder in an attempt to avoid the collision.

Unfortunately the car struck the side of the transport. There were no reported injuries. As a result of the crash, a Goulais River woman was charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. Fifty six year old Elaine WINDUS, of Island Road in Goulais River, has been charged with Failing to Share the Roadway.

Residence on Mississauga Ave Victim of Break And Enter

Elliot Lake, Ont.

The East Algoma OPP received a call on October 2, 2006 at approximately 11:00 a.m. requesting police attend a residence on Mississauga Avenue regarding a possible break and enter. On scene, police learned that unknown person(s) entered the residence, searched a basement apartment. An undisclosed amount of money was taken.
