Every year members of Sault Ste Marie OPP and detachments across northern Ontario, investigate numerous break and enters to camps and summer homes.

The OPP would like to offer several suggestions on how to make your camp or cottage less appealing to thieves.

Remove or attempt to hide as many valuables as possible. This does not mean the OPP is suggesting you move everything from your summer retreat and take it to storage or your home. If you are leaving a microwave or stereo in the camp, move it to a location were someone will not be able to see it when they look in the window.

Mark all your property with your vehicle licence plate. OPP have been working with Ontario Farm Mutual Insurance Company to have all property marked with your licence plate. The owner information of a licence plat
