Yestreday at 8:10 p.m., the Sault O.P.P., Goulais Fire and Rescue and Sault Ste. Marie ambulance responded to the Nardi Road area off Hwy. 552 West in Goulais River.

A large section of the property of a private residence along the shore of the Goulals River collapsed causing the private residence to drop approximately 50 feet in elevation and move forward in the direction at the Goulais River approximately 75 feet.

The homeowners were in the residence at the time but were not injured.

At no time did the residence ever come in contact with the river itself

The collapse further caused significant property and residential damage to an abutting private residence.

Area homes were evacuated as a precaution and Great Lakes Power disconnected the power.

It is anticipated insurance adjusters and Ministry agencies will be on the scene today.
