Car/Deer Collisions

Sault Ste Marie, Ont. - Perhaps it was too many hunters in the surrounding bush, the weather, or just because it is the mating season, but it was not a good night for the deer population in the surrounding area.

Between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. last night Sault Ste Marie OPP investigated three car/deer collisions on area highways.

One collision was near the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 552 in Goulais River and the other two were on Highway 17 east of Sault Ste Marie.

In all three collisions all the deer were killed.

None of the occupants or the drivers of the vehicles involved were injured.

Two of the three vehicles had to be towed from the scenes.
