HEYDEN-SEARCHMONT RESIDENT'S REMINDED TO USE 9-1-1
Heyden, Ont.,

Consultation with our Heyden-Searchmont Community Policing Committee has indicated a problem in these communities in contacting any one of the three emergency services.

For many years there were three different seven digit telephone number's that these resident's had to call for the police, fire or ambulance. Most of the roadways and homes in these area's did not have 9-1-1 service. Several years ago all the homes in these area's were assigned orderly house numbers and the emergency "9-1-1" system is now in place.

The Heyden-Searchmont Community Policing Committee have advised the Sault Ste Marie OPP that there are still a number of people that look for and try to use one of the seven digit telephone numbers for emergency services. The "9-1-1" telephone number is the one to use in the Heyden and Searchmont when you need the police, fire department or the ambulance in an emergency.
