HERE WE GO AGAIN—THIS TIME WILL YOU BE PREPARED ???

Sault Ste Marie, Ont., With most internet weather sites predicting another upcoming 24 hours of high winds for this area, Sault Ste Marie OPP are asking everyone if you are prepared for extended periods with no hydro and other necessities of life?

Environment Canada is predicting that later today and into tonight that wind will once again pick up and will be gusting to 80 km/h (50 mph). They are suggesting that that high winds will last into Wednesday morning.

Are you and your family prepared to sustain yourself with no hydro for an extended period of time? Check your flashlights to ensure the batteries are full strength. Do you have a plan to position candles in your home where they can burn safely and not cause a fire hazard? Stock up on bottled water and food supplies that don’t need to be heated before eating.

If you have to leave your home in an emergency do you have a small suitcase packed with enough clothes and medical supplies to last several days? Make copies of all your important documents and either keep them at a different location or have the copies packed in your suitcase. Take a few minutes today and prepare an emergency plan for your home and family. When adverse weather does blow in and the roads are impassable, then it’s too late to make that “quick run” to the store for supplies. Prepare today for what may be coming tomorrow.
