Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. is investigating eight break and enters all on one road in the Goulais River area.

Late Friday afternoon, a homeowner on Four Seasons Drive in Goulais River discovered that his seasonal home and seven of his neighbours' had been forcibly entered and items removed.

The investigation has revealed that sometime in the past week the culprits forced their way into the eight houses and the garages and sheds of the homes in that area. The homes, sheds and garages all had the doors and doorframes damaged. Police have compiled a list of some of the items that were stolen from the property owners.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen any unusual activity or vehicles in the Four Seasons Drive area over the past week. You can call the O.P.P. at 1-888-310-1122.


UNINVITED HOUSE "GUEST"
Heyden, Ont.,

Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. was called to a Heyden home on Saturday night after the homeowner looked out to find a bear on his deck.

At about 10:00 p.m., a bear wandered up onto the deck of a house on Hwy 17 in the Heyden area. The bear wandered off prior to police arrival.

Police would remind everyone to keep any food articles and garbage enclosed in sheds or garages.


EARLY MORNING RIDE ENDS IN LICENCE SUSPENSION
Garden River, Ont.,

A Sault Ste. Marie man had his licence suspended for 90 day after he failed to provide a roadside breath sample.

At about 1:30 this morning, a member of the Sault Ste. Marie detachment checked a man riding a motorcycle on Hwy 17 in Garden River. The officer requested that the man provide a breath sample into the roadside breathalyzer. After numerous requests and attempts the motorist would not provide a sample suitable for analysis.

Fifty-one-year-old David Handley of Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with failing to provide a breath sample. His driver?s licence has been suspended for 90 days pursuant to the Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension Program in Ontario. Mr. Handley will appear in court in June to answer to the charge.


HOLIDAY WEEKEND COLLISIONS
Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. is delighted to report that there were only two collisions all weekend in our detachment area. Both collisions occurred north of the city and both involved vehicles hitting deer.

No one was injured in these incidents.


R.I.D.E. FINDS FOUR REAL CLOSE BUT NO CHARGES
Four motorists were issued 12 hours drivers licence suspensions over the weekend. Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P conducted R.I.D.E. checks all over the detachment area all weekend and discovered four drivers that were drinking and driving. All four had their licences suspended for 12 hours but no charges were laid.
