YOUTH ARRESTED IN WIKIWEMIKONG HOMICIDE (Wikwemikong, Ont.) – In the early morning hours of Tuesday 02nd May 06 members of the Wikwemikong Tribal Police were called to a disturbance at 37 Daawema Road Wikwemikong, Ontario.
YOUTH ARRESTED IN WIKIWEMIKONG HOMICIDE

(Wikwemikong, Ont.) – In the early morning hours of Tuesday 02nd May 06 members of the Wikwemikong Tribal Police were called to a disturbance at 37 Daawema Road Wikwemikong, Ontario. Upon arrival at the scene it was found that an adult male was a victim of a stab wound. He was rushed to the Manitoulin Health Centre in Little Current where we he was pronounced dead on arrival. The deceased male has been identified as Cory Allen ROY age 28 of the Wikwemikong First Nation. Through investigation it was learned that a male youth had fled the scene.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Emergency Response Team along with the canine unit were called in to assist in locating the youth. At day break a 16 year-old male youth was located in another residence in Wikwemikong and surrendered peacefully to police and was taken into custody. The youth cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The investigation is still ongoing with the assistance of the Northeast Region OPP Crime unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit from Sault Ste. Marie. The joint investigation is being conducted with the Wikwemikong Tribal Police under the direction of Detective Inspector Tim Millar of the Criminal Investigation Branch of the OPP.

Hwy 556 Now Open

Highway # 556 is now open. The highway had been closed due to a motor vehicle collision.

Hwy 556 Crash Claims Life Of Searchmont Man

A Searchmont man is dead after an early morning collision on Hwy 556 in Searchmont this morning.

At about 1:30 a.m. this morning OPP were called to Hwy 556 about 2 km west of the Bellevue Valley train trestle. The investigation is indicating that an eastbound car was traveling toward Searchmont. The vehicle left the roadway and smashed into a rock cut.
Police, fire and ambulance were called to the scene. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Members of the Aweres Twp Fire Department were called to the scene to extricate the man from the car.

Dead is seventy four year old Roland ALLARD of Hwy 556 in Searchmont. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.

An autopsy will be conducted today in Sault Ste Marie. It is not known what caused Mr. Allard’s car to leave the roadway. This investigation is continuing.

Ground Search For Stacey Delinardi Continues

Duncan Twp, Ont.,

Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Sault Search and Rescue will commence a ground search this morning for any signs of Stacey Delinardi.

The thirty one year old Sault Ste Marie man went missing from his Sault Ste Marie residence last November. On December 1, 2005 his vehicle was found on an isolated section of Connor Road in Duncan Twp, just outside the Sault Ste Marie city limits.

Last week four cadaver dogs with the OPP Canine Unit searched the area for three days but found no signs of the man. Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team and Sault Search and Rescue will be in Duncan Twp over the next several days trying to find any signs of Mr. Delinardi.
