(White River, Ontario):

Superior East OPP Officers from White River were busy the last few days ridding the streets of illegal drugs.

During an investigation on March 8th, Officers located a vehicle they were looking for on Superior Street in White River. As a result of this investigation, 36 year old Steven CHIASSON of Dubreuilville Ont was arrested and charged with one count of Possession of Marihuana and one count of Possession of Cannabis resin.
CHIASSON was released on a Promise to Appear Court on May 7th in Wawa.

On March 11th, White River Officers of Superior East OPP were patrolling Highway 17 when they came across a driver trying to get his vehicle out of the ditch. Further investigation revealed that he had a small amount of marihuana in the vehicle.
33 year old, Daryl AMUNDSON of Sarnia Ontario was subsequently arrested and charged with Possession of Marihuana. He was released on an Appearance Notice to attend Wawa Court on June 4th.


DRIVER ARRESTED FOR OVER 80 MGS

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) On Saturday March 10, 2007, officers from the East Algoma – Elliot Lake Detachment had occasion to speak to a male on a snowmobile.

The male, Calvin BRIFFET was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment. BRIFFET has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

Over 80 mgs – Motor Vehicle
Breach of Probation Order
Fail to Comply with Undertaking or Recognizance

BRIFFET was released on a Promise to Appear for May 1, 2007 in Elliot Lake Court.

BOATS DAMAGED SECOND TIME IN TEN DAYS

(Thessalon, Ontario) For the second time in ten days the East Algoma – Thessalon OPP were dispatched to Peachey Street, Thessalon, Ontario regarding mischief to several boats.

Four boats were entered and minor damage occurred. Two of the boats had the fire extinguishers discharged in the cabins.

The damage occurred between Thursday March 8 – Saturday March 10, 2007.
