Theft of Three Wallets (Elliot Lake, Ont.) Monday, June 13th, 2005 police attended a retirement home in regards to numerous thefts.

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) Monday, June 13th, 2005 police attended a retirement home in regards to numerous thefts.

Investigation revealed that sometime on Tuesday, June 7th, 2005 (3) three wallets were taken from (3) three separate offices. A small amount of cash was in each wallet.
Investigation continuing.

Theft of Hydro Wire

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) Police are currently investigating the theft of Hydro Wire from Dunlop Lake.

The theft occurred between Friday, June 10th, 2005 and the morning of June 13th, 2005. The wire is described as being aluminum, 76m rolls, Hydro issue with red/black/white plastic coated. Each roll weight approximately 200 lbs and 15 rolls were taken. Estimated value $14,000.00.

Crime Stoppers pays up to $2,000.00 for anonymous tips that lead to an arrest.

Building Centre in Spanish Victim of Theft

(Spanish, Ont.) The OPP attended the Rona Building Centre in Spanish on Monday, June 13th, 2005 in regards to a theft that occurred over the weekend.

Unknown person(s) attended the lumberyard sometime between 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2005 and Monday morning and removed a lift of 27 4’ X 8’ sheets of greenish stained, pressure treated ½ inch fir plywood. The sheets are $45.00 each and weight about 60 lbs each. Due to the weight, a large truck or truck trailer combination may have been used.
Investigation continuing.

Trespassing

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) While officers were on general patrol on June 13, 2005 at approximately 3:28 a.m. (3) three persons were observed running from behind a church on Bouck Road in Elliot Lake. Police located one male in the yard of a residence on Joubin Rd.

Charged with Trespass/Prowl X2 and Breach of Probation X2 is Sean Henry SEGUIN (26) of Sault Ste Marie.

SEGUIN is in custody awaiting a Bail Hearing.

Investigation continuing.

Theft From Unlocked Vehicles

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The Elliot Lake OPP is currently investigating two (2) separate incidents regarding theft of items from unlocked vehicles. Items taken were CD’s and loose change. The thefts occurred in the Hirshhorn and Roman Avenue area.

Police would like to remind the citizens of Elliot Lake to always lock your vehicle. An unlocked vehicle becomes a target for theft.

Items such as loose change, purses and wallets, packsacks, or any items of value, should be removed from your vehicle when every you park it for any length of time.

Take the time and lock your vehicle at all times when you park it.

Vehicle Stopped After Driving Off Roadway

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On June 12th, 2005 at approximately 5:39 a.m. police observed a vehicle on highway 108 drive off the roadway. Police stopped the vehicle. Investigation revealed the driver had been drinking.

Charged with Over 80 and Possession of Marihuana is Sheena Vie PINE (18) of Serpent River.

PINE is scheduled to appear in court on August 16th, 2005.

Mischief

( Thessalon, Ont.) Attempts to beautify the Town were thwarted by persons who seem to have no respect for others property.

Friday morning Town officials in Thessalon reported that someone had pulled out plants from boxes on Main St. Town crews had to take the time to replant the flowers.

Theft from Vehicle

(Blind River, Ont.) On Monday 13 June 2005 East Algoma O.P.P. received a report of a daytime theft of a purse from an unlocked vehicle.

Sometime after 10:00 a.m. and before 1:00 pm a resident had her purse stolen from her car while it was parked in front of her Laborne ST, home.

Impaired and Weapons Charges

(Plummer Twp. Ont.) On Saturday 11 June 2005 East Algoma O.P.P. responded to an Impaired Driving complaint and concluded by making an arrest for driving offences and weapons offences.

Shortly after midnight Police were advised of a person driving erratically who had damaged a vehicle and trailer. The suspect had taken refuge in a trailer on Hwy 638. After some investigation Police entered the trailer and arrested the suspect.
Charged is 44-year-old Leo NOEL of 22 Nadon St. Blind River, Ont.

NOEL is charged with: Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired,
2 counts of Unauthorized possession of a weapon and
Careless use of a Firearm
Noel was released the next day and is to appear in court in Thessalon on 07 July 2005.

OPP Called to two Fires

Goulais River, Ont., Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to two separate fires in Goulais River yesterday afternoon
At about 3:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon officers were called to a residence on Hwy 552 east after a recreational trailer caught fire. The trailer was destroyed in the blaze. There was no one in the trailer at the time of the fire. The police and fire department conducted examination of the area. No further police investigation is being conducted at this fire. The estimated value of the trailer was about $3000.00.

A second fire was reported on Robertson Lake Road. A Goulais River resident had an old car he didn’t want anymore so at about 7:00 p.m. last night he set it on fire on his property. The Goulais River Fire Department was called to scene. The man was given some advice on the dangers of such activity when there has been so little rain in the area. No charges were laid in this investigation.
