Train Derails In Webbwood (Espanola) – Yesterday at 6:15 p.m., a westbound Huron Central Railway freight train derailed behind a house located on Highway 17, Webbwood, ON, approximately 100 hundred metres east of Birch Lake Road.

(Espanola) – Yesterday at 6:15 p.m., a westbound Huron Central Railway freight train derailed behind a house located on Highway 17, Webbwood, ON, approximately 100 hundred metres east of Birch Lake Road.

The Sable-Spanish Rivers Fire Department attended the scene and put out a small brush fire with the assistance of the train crew.

A total of fifteen (15) cars, carrying generators, derailed. There were no hazardous materials involved, no roads were blocked and no injuries reported.

The Huron Central Railway and Transport Canada have been notified and are at the scene today to conduct their own investigation as to the cause of the derailment and are continuing the clean-up.

Yogi & BooBoo Spotted In Heyden

Sault Ste Marie OPP attended at two separate nuisance bear calls in the Heyden area yesterday.

At about 8:30 p.m. police were called to the Shetland Trailer Park in Heyden after a bear was seen near the garbage bins and wouldn’t leave. The animal was eventually scared away from the area. There were no other reports of the animal being seen in that particular area again.

The second call came into police at about 11:15 p.m. A resident of Jonathon Road in Heyden reported a bear trying to push in her front door. Police arrived and the bear was gone.
