Marine Rescue (Harmony Beach, Ontario) – The Sault Ste. Marie responded to a capsized sailboat on Lake Superior near Harmony Beach at approximately 4:00 PM. Two persons were seen in the water near the boat. Sault Ste.

(Harmony Beach, Ontario) – The Sault Ste. Marie responded to a capsized sailboat on Lake Superior near Harmony Beach at approximately 4:00 PM. Two persons were seen in the water near the boat. Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, JRCC Trenton and Thunder Bay Coast Guard were called to assist.

The two persons were located safe and sound.

Busy Weekend For OPP

The Sault Ste. Marie Detachment had a busy weekend investigating several occurrences ranging from animal complaints, traffic complaints, noise complaints, alarms and two motor vehicle collisions.

On the 1st of July 2006, at approximately 6:00 p.m. a 66-year-old male driving an all terrain vehicle traveling the ditch along Highway 17 in Fenwick Township lost control of his vehicle and was thrown off. John Gregoire, of Hodgins Township was taken to the Sault Area Hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Another motor vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 17 in Heyden was investigated on the 3rd of July involving a deer. No injuries were reported by the driver. The deer did not make it.

Officers from the Traffic and Marine unit conducted R.I.D.E. at Harmony Beach on Friday which resulted in 2 LLA charges, 8 HTA charges 1 12 hour suspension and 9 HTA warns.

Police remind everyone to drink responsibly and don’t be a statistic.
