O.P.P. Tops in National Policing Poll

(Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario) – A national public opinion poll on policing released this week indicates the Ontario Provincial Police leads the nation in citizen satisfaction in the communities it serves.

A survey for law enforcement agencies, conducted by Pollara, a national research firm, found 77 per cent of Canadians happy with the performance of the OPP. Overall, 69 per cent of Canadians were satisfied with the delivery of police services.

“We see this survey result as a report card of the OPP’s efforts in working with the communities it serves,” said Staff Sergeant Wesley Moore Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. detachment commander, “and we will continue to partner with our communities to meet the ever changing expectations in policing.”

The national survey also indicated that 94 per cent of Canadians feel safe from crime, 78 per cent feel comfortable walking alone after dark and 95 per cent feel safe in their homes.
