Letters For Sign Found

The mystery of the missing letters from the Echo Bay sign has taken a turn for the better. An Echo Bay resident, tending to his garden, noticed something unusual in the adjacent bush. Closer inspection revealed the missing “A” and “E” from the sign, covered in some brush. The letters were in good repair and should be returned to their proper resting place shortly.

It appears that some persons have taken to committing acts of mischief in the Echo Bay area in recent weeks. With no intent to cast undue aspersions at any one segment of society, it is curious that these acts have all taken place since school recessed for the summer. Residents have arisen to find their front lawns decorated with stop signs, 911 emergency address numbers have been removed and in one case the bicycle rack from the local public school was pulled down the street. No doubt the perpetrators view these acts as harmless nuisances to be endured with a shaking of the head and a smile. Alas, the potential for grief involved in removing a stop sign and the possible dire consequences in delaying emergency personnel from arriving at residences, requiring assistance, negate any humour the act was designed to generate. We, as do the citizens affected, take a dim view of these inane acts. Those involved will no doubt have difficulty finding any mirth in their deeds once they have been apprehended.
