Snowplow Backs Into Car

Garden River First Nation, Ont. - No one was injured yesterday after a snow plow backed into a car on Highway 17 in Garden River.

At about 9:30 a.m. the plow and two other vehicles were westbound on Highway 17 in Garden River. All three vehicles pulled over to the side of the roadway to let an ambulance pass the three of them. After the ambulance passed the third vehicle passed both the car and the plow. The plow driver realized that there was still snow and slush on the roadway from where he pulled over for the ambulance and he wanted to remove the snow from the roadway. The plow driver started to back up and did not see the car stopped directly behind him. The driver of the car tried to back up out of the way and was honking the horn at the plow. The plow driver did not see or hear the vehicle and struck the car. No one was injured in the collision and the matter is still under investigation.

Michigan to Report to Canada

A Dafter Michigan man will be making a return trip across the border in March 2005, whether he likes it or not.

Yesterday at about 5:00 p.m. officers with the Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment stopped a vehicle on Hwy 17 in Heyden.

The driver of the vehicle showed signs that he had been drinking. He was returned to the OPP detachment where a Breathalyzer test was conducted on the man. As a result of the observation of the officer and the Breathalyzer readings the man has been charged with one count of drinking and driving.

Twenty seven year old Jody LAWRENCE-MEYERS of Dafter Michigan will return to Canada in on March 7 2005 to answer to a charge of Driving While Over the Legal Limit of .08.
