FOR NOW, IT'S STILL OPEN! Sault Ste Marie, Ont.
FOR NOW, IT'S STILL OPEN!
Sault Ste Marie, Ont.,

With day number two of a winter snow fall in this area the most common question being asked is "has the highway been closed yet"?

Environment Canada is calling for continuing snowfall but today the snow will be accompanied by high winds. As of this morning all highways in the Sault Ste Marie and surrounding area are open. Hwy 17 north of Sault Ste Marie is already experiencing reduced visibility due to blowing snow but it is open.

For the highway conditions please do not call the OPP. The Ministry of Transportation has the most up to date highway conditions available at the following telephone numbers. You can reach the M.T.O. Road Condition Report at 945-5924 and toll free at 1-800-340-2454.

Sault Ste Marie OPP would like to remind all motorists traveling today that the major cause of collisions in the Algoma District this time of the year is traveling too fast for weather conditions. S L O W D O W N , plan to leave for any destination a few minutes earlier than you usually do and you and your vehicle will arrive in one piece.
