The Sault O.P.P. reports a fairly quiet long weekend. A male from California was involved in a one-vehicle accident on Ranger Lake Road yesterday afternoon.
The Sault O.P.P. reports a fairly quiet long weekend.

A male from California was involved in a one-vehicle accident on Ranger Lake Road yesterday afternoon. Eric Walasek, age 24, was driving his 2001 Toyota Pick-up when he lost control and struck an earth embankment. The vehicle rolled over two times. The driver was wearing his seat belt and suffered no injuries. The vehicle was destroyed. No charges were laid.

Another male went for a different kind of ride yesterday afternoon on Pancake Bay. A 33-year-old visiting Pancake bay Provincial Park was relaxing on an air mattress when the strong wind carried him out from shore. Despite his best efforts to get back to shore, he and his air mattress were carried for over an hour by the wind that pushed him south. He landed on shore a few miles away.

The O.P.P. Marine Unit was dispatched to assist. A local resident assisted police and, with the use of his boat, the stranded vacationer was located in fine condition on the shore. He had to walk back
