Recent Break-ins

We know that the Searchmont Resort is an excellent venue to enjoy winter activities. Good service, hospitable staff and a welcoming atmosphere have patrons returning year after year. At this time of year the resort is closed awaiting the return of snow. Some people just cannot wait that long. At approximately 1:30 A.M. on the 15th of August some unscrupulous louts barged their way into the facility through a second story window. Lack of service personnel did not deter these visitors, as they were eager to serve themselves. A large quantity of liquor, ski equipment and clothing was taken during their brief stay. Preliminary estimates place the value of items missing at approximately $4,000. As a parting gesture the culprits used the tried and true gesture of intelligence challenged thieves, the common setting off of a fire extinguisher. The investigation continues.

The same night thieves visited the Rupert Acres Strip Mall in Heyden. This time the target was Tavi’s Bar. Again a window was the preferred entrance of choice. The target was alcohol and somewhere in the neighbourhood of $800.00 worth has disappeared. If perchance the ne’er-do-wells responsible were involved in both of these break and enters, it would appear, from the items they selected to go home with, that they might have a drinking problem. This break and enter is also still under investigation.
