Local Store Victim of Shoplifting (Elliot Lake, Ont.) On April 21st, 2005 the OPP received a call to attend a local store in the Algo Centre Mall regarding a complaint of a shoplifter.

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On April 21st, 2005 the OPP received a call to attend a local store in the Algo Centre Mall regarding a complaint of a shoplifter. On scene the officer met the manager, which explained that the suspect had been apprehended leaving the store with items not paid.

Charged with Theft Under $5,000.00 is Heather SMITH (36) of Elliot Lake. SMITH is scheduled to appear in court on June 7th, 2005.

Mischief to Abandoned Building

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) Police are currently investigating a Mischief report in regards to abandoned buildings on Hutchison Avenue. A basement window was broken sometime between the hours of 10:00 p.m. on April 22, 2005 and 7:15 a.m. on April 23, 2005. Police are conducting special patrols of the abandoned buildings and are asking the public for their assistance. If anyone has information regarding the above mischief is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.

Traffic Stop Leads to Recovery of Stolen Barbecue

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On April 25, 2005 a resident from Hillside Drive North contacted police to report his barbecue had been stolen. The barbecue was taking sometime during the hours of 8:00 p.m. on April 24, 2005 and 6:00 a.m. on April 25, 2005.

Later during the day at approximately 1:30 p.m. police stopped a vehicle and the barbecue was observed in the back seat of the vehicle.

Charged with Theft Under $5,000.00 is Matthew LALONDE (18) of Elliot Lake. LALONDE is scheduled to appear in court on June 7th, 2005.

Goulais River Break and Enter

Goulais River, Ont., Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to a home in the 2800 block of Hwy 17 in Goulais River after the owner discovered that his garage had been entered.

Yesterday at about 4:00 p.m. the owner called police to report the break and enter. Sometime over the past several days the suspect (s) entered the garage and searched the garage for any valuables. The owner was able to determine that none of the larger and obvious items were taken. Evidence at the scene indicated that the thieves did search the interior of the garage for valuables. So far, the property owner indicates that they cannot find anything missing.
