THIS YEAR'S FESTIVE R.I.D.E. PROGRAM
Sault Ste Marie, Ont.

Friday marks the start of this year’s FESTIVE R.I.D.E campaign across the Province of Ontario.

In the Sault area, every shift will conduct at least one R.I.D.E check somewhere in each officer’s patrol zone. O.P.P. will be conducting these R.I.D.E checks on both Hwy 17 and all the area side roads.

As we have done in the past, we will team up with the Sault Ste. Marie City Police and our two First Nation Police agencies to increase the amount of R.I.D.E. checks everywhere in and around Sault Ste. Marie.

The O.P.P. has received grant funding to conduct even more R.I.D.E checks in the Echo Bay and Laird Twp areas. Officers have been canvassed to come in on their days off to conduct even more FESTIVE R.I.D.E checks exclusively in and around these two communities.

The Ontario Provincial Police across the province will be on the highways throughout the province at this time of the year in our increase battle against impaired driving. If you plan on drinking this season, make your alternative transportation plans before you go out. If you are having people over to your home advise your guests of the alternative to drinking and driving that you have arranged for them prior to the guests arriving at your home.

Every year police conduct this campaign and every year they issue hundreds of twelve-hour suspensions and charge hundreds of people with impaired driving.

Look for the police because they will be looking for you !!!
